Senior Manager, People

What you will do
- Ensure Journey Further remains compliant with federal, state, and local regulations
- Lead on employee relations cases, ensuring fair, timely, and legally compliant outcomes
- Maintain and update US employee handbooks and policies in line with legal changes and best practice
- Manage and administer employee benefits (health insurance, 401(k), PTO etc.), ensuring a consistent employee experience
- Work closely with external brokers and providers to review and improve offerings
- Act as the first point of contact for all US benefit-related queries
- Manage end-to-end recruitment for US roles including drafting job descriptions, posting roles, screening CVs, conducting initial interviews, and coordinating hiring manager interviews
- Champion inclusive and equitable hiring practices
- Partner with hiring managers to forecast hiring needs and identify top talent
- Act as the cultural lead for the US office, bringing to life the Journey Further values (decisive, open, pioneering and together) and embedding our ‘Beyond Performance’ vision
- Lead on engagement initiatives, celebrations, and wellness activities for remote and office-based US team members
- Champion diversity, equity and inclusion, ensuring everyone feels seen, heard, and valued
- Support the US employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding
- Maintain accurate employee records in the HR system
- Support cross-functional and international collaboration with the UK People team to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing
- Collaborate closely with finance and payroll providers to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, benefits, and compensation
- Support the performance review process, development plans, and internal mobility for US employees
- Monitor and report on key people metrics (e.g. headcount, turnover, engagement), providing insight to support strategic decision-making
- Partner with the UK People team on global HR projects, systems, and processes, ensuring local adaptation where needed
- Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency, consistency, and employee experience
- Represent the People team in US meetings and act as a bridge between the US team and the wider global business
- Support internal communications and initiatives that build engagement and reinforce our ‘Beyond Performance’ culture
- Champion a psychologically safe and inclusive environment, taking proactive steps to address wellbeing and mental health support
Requirements
- You’re an expert on all things US federal and state employment law
- You have strong knowledge of HR practices, including benefits administration and recruitment
- You manage sensitive matters with discretion and empathy
- You have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- You’re highly proactive and able to work independently
- You’re values-driven and people-focused
- You’re a team player who builds strong relationships across all levels
- You’re culturally aware and inclusive as well as curious, solutions-focused, and growth-oriented
- You have 5+ years in a generalist HR role, with experience managing employment law, recruitment processes, benefits, and employee relations
- You have experience working in a fast-paced, creative, or scale-up environment
- You have experience influencing and advising senior stakeholders
- You have a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- You may have a professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) but this is not essential
- You’re eligible to work in the US
